Attributed to Jean Baptiste Isabey (France 1767-1855) Watercolor Portrait Miniature: Set in a stunning mother of pearl frame, a small portrait miniature, signed Isabey, attributed to Jean Baptiste Isabey. Frame measures 5.75 x 5, and image measures 3.25 x 2.5. Isabey had an apprenticeship in the studio of historical painter Jean Giradet in Nancy and after further training he joined the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in 1787. Isabey’s works can be seen in many museums in France, such as Château de Versailles or the Louvre, and can also be found in international museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art in New York, the Bomann-Museum in Celle and the Pushkin Museum in Moscow.
