William Charles Anthony Frerichs (American 1829-1905) Oil Painting on Canvas: Stunning oil painting attributed to Frerichs. Monogram signature lower right. Framed piece measures 16.5 x 19.5, and canvas measures 14 x 11. Title unknown, believed to be of the North Carolina area. Attributed to Frerichs who studied art in The Hague, worked under two important masters, Andreas Schelfhout (1787–1870) and Bartholomeus J. Van Hove (1790–1880), of the late nineteenth century Dutch art known as "The Hague School." Frerichs's works can be found in private and public collections throughout the United States, including the North Carolina Museum of Art and the Museum of Santa Barbara, Calif., Salem, Ore.; Baltimore, Md.; Newark, N.J.; New Jersey State; and Staten Island, N.Y.
