Marc Chagall "The Fox and The Ram" Etching Plate 31/200: In 1927, Chagall (Russian/French 1887-1985) began working on a series of etchings illustrating The Fables of La Fontaine. This piece is plate 31 of an edition size of 200. Signed in pencil at lower right. The Fables was issued in an edition of 200 portfolios on Montval, 40 of which also contained a suite of the etchings on japon nacre and 85 of which contained a suite with hand coloring.
