Civil War Cook & Brother Artillery Carbine or Musketoon 1861: An incredibly rare piece of history. 24" barrel, furniture brass, butt plate, trigger guard, and fore end cap all brass. Barrel bands in iron. Screw heads are in very good shape. Confederate flag stamped on lock plate. Surface is corroded, wonderfully patinated. The following serial number and information can be seen. On the lock plate is NO 1861, and the serial number is difficult to see but a "38" can be seen and possibly a "1". Difficult to see any other stampings on the lock plate. Beautiful twist steel barrel, which is what you want to see on these weapons. Provenance: From a personal museum in Gettysburg, PA.
