Peter Lik (born 1959) is a world renowned photographer from Australia, best known for his nature and panoramic landscape images. A master photographer, Lik sold a photograph in 2010 for $1 million dollars to an anonymous collector. The photograph, titled "One", was shot on the banks of the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire. He has galleries in Cairns, Australia, Lahaina, Hawaii, Las Vegas in Caesars Palace, The Plaza Hotel in Manhattan and in the SoHo neighborhood. Overall, he has four galleries in Las Vegas and nine others across the US. All of Lik’s photographs are produced in limited quantities. Peter Lik currently holds four of the top 20 spots for the most expensive photographs ever sold. Lik’s business model is quite unique in the fine art world. Once the artist has sold 10 percent of a limited edition, the price of a photo will increase. For example, a print that would have cost $4,000 at the time it was first released could end up costing anywhere from six to eight million dollars if the edition sells through.
