R. J. Horner Grandfather Clock Mahogany Case, J.J. Elliott Movement, Harrington Chime Tubes: Incredible Large R.J. Horner Grandfather Clock Case. Measurements are as follows: 100" (approximately 8'3" tall) tall to top of Hepplewhite style finials. Bonnet top. Piece measures 23.5" wide at widest point of hood and base, and is approximately 15.5" deep. 9 tube chimes made by Harris and Harrington Patent date July 30, 1901 which is impressed on the bottom of one chime. Silvered face signed Elliott London, R.J. Horner & Co. New York. Detail markings: Chime/Silent, Whittington/Westminster (for the chimes). Corinthian style columns on both sides, 3 weights and a single brass pendulum, ribbon and bow inlay detail on crown, neck, and bottom case front. Movement has an impressed mark of "Elliott England and H & H" for J.J. Elliott and Harris and Harrington. Clock case ends with 2 front paw feet. Bottom feet have edge and age wear, with some scuffing as well. Overall case is in excellent condition. Clock is in good working condition. The only other marking on the clock case is the number 5301 on the base wood below the movement. Back of clock has felt in place of thin piece of wood to get into the back of the clock, see photo of red felt which is the last picture. Note: R.J. Horner made clock cases for Elliott movements and Harrington's tubular bell chimes. Harris and Harrington were J.J. Elliot's only agents in the US, and invented the tubular chimes and obtained the patent and had Elliott adapt these to his movements. Need third party shipper for this very large and delicate item.
