No. 10 Cirkut Camera (Panoramic) Complete Kit With Tripod: Years ago, after buyiing this fascinating camera, I had it examined and tuned up by the world's best Cirkut camera specialist, Jim Lipari, of Omaha NE. It has been running great ever since. This camera comes with s super sharp 10 element triple convertible 10 1/2-18-24 inch lens which lives up to everything written and said about this great piece of glass. It is a Turner-Reich Anastigmat f. 7.5 Series II No. 4, made by Gundlach-Manhatten Optical Co. Rochester NY patented on May 14, 1895, Serial #85048. The front lens board tilts, rises and falls smoothly, as it should. The bellows pull out easily on the rail, and lock at the lens guide in use. From there, the rack and pinion provides fine focusing or adds additional bellows length. The bellows look okay, but being more than 100 years old, I would believe that there are probably some pinholes. Just in case, I always throw the focusing cloth over the bellows. The two-direction spirit level is in nice, working condition. When using this camera, using the level is a must for a successful result. The removeable lens board allows a quick change of the elements position to a different focal length. It's no problem and only takes seconds. Forty years ago, there was a steam leak in my studio which loosened the black leather camera covering, ergo, this natural wood camera. That incident had no impact on its operation, just on its appearance. The film back has the "Lipari Block". It's there as a reminder to fold over the ground glass before attaching the back to the camera. It also has the Lipari Film Adapter, used to check composition and to test exposure, using 120 or 220 film, to help and insure a successful photo shoot. The film back can accommodate 6",8",10" Cirkut film. Almost 100% of all large panoramic (yardlong) photographs were taken with Cirkut cameras. The tripod that comes with the No. 10 Cirkut Kit is a Folmer & Schwing Professional Tripod, having a total length of 4 feet, 10 inches. When folded its 24". The tripod top is a 12" diameter revolving platform carrying the traveling camera by using brass gears and a mechanical motor (clock mechanism). Also in the case are two winding keys and 9 brass gears, each with a different number of teeth. Film not included. Very Important: Read both included instruction manuals cover to cover before attempting to use the world's most interesting and fun camera. NOTE: If the photographer had a sense of humor, the same person can be in the photo two times in two different places, usually on both ends. These Cirkut prints are called "run-arounds" and are very collectible and are 2 or 3 times more expensive. If you win this this item and your intention is to have it professionally restored, one of the country's finest large camera restorers happens to live only about 80 miles away. If you choose to have him do this work, please let the auction house know, and they will put you in touch with the restorer, Tom Lazaroff, and Tim Ryan the original owner.
