Seneca Special 5x7 Folding Plate Camera: The lens is a 5x7 Rapid convertible in a duo shutter. The f. stops move smoothly and indicate the focal lengths 8"-14". All the speeds work well, even the slow speeds, most unusual for a 110 year-old camera. The glass is clean and clear. The bellows look decent, they pull out to the end of the rail, from there the rack and pinion provides fine focusing. The rising front moves up and down easily, and locks. The ground-glass has no scratches or cracks. The spirit level attached to the bed works fine. The camera has a wood body covered with genuine leather, walrus grain. The bed is solid mahogany with an ebony finish. There are 2 tripod sockets. Note: On the spring back, the bottom spring needs repair, as does the viewfinder that's attached to the bed. Other than that, this century old plate camera is ok. A nice collectible piece.
